Dr. Albert Joerger served as Chairman of The District Governing Board’s Surplus Lands Assessment Subcommittee.  The group met between November 2011 and November 2012. Through that process 261,000 acres were evaluated and recommended 1,275 acres, consisting of 28 parcels, for surplus and 1,271 acres (24 parcels) of the lands recommended for surplus by the Subcommittee have been declared surplus.  Currently,  there are a total of 33 parcels that have been declared surplus and have been either sold, are under contract, are involved in the due diligence process, in negotiation or are being appraised to set minimum bids.
